AXN/BCU/401 - Axon backplane controller
The AXN/BCU/401 is a dual-port full-duplex, Gigabit Ethernet, Axon backplane controller packet programmer and an IPv4/IPv6 data packets transmitter.
The Axon backplane controller supports chassis programming via Ethernet using Trivial File Transfer Protocol (TFTP). Synchronization with an external PTP Grandmaster is achieved using IEEE Std.1588-2004 (PTPv1) or IEEE Std. 1588-2008 (PTPv2). The AXN/BCU/401 can also act as a PTPv1 or PTPv2 Grandmaster.
In acquisition mode, some or all acquired data is transferred from the backplane to the CVT. Onboard, it is packetized into either an IENA, iNET, iNET-X, or IRIG 106 Chapter 10 UDP application layer packet. Assembled packets can be transmitted simultaneously on either or both Ethernet outputs. For asynchronous bus data, the AXN/BCU/401 supports aperiodic transmission for efficient bandwidth use, whereby a packet is not generated if no fresh data has been acquired from a packetizer user-module.
Incoming traffic on one Ethernet port can be output on the other Ethernet port via an inbuilt switch core, which supports PTPv1 and PTPv2 transparency. This traffic is merged with traffic generated from the chassis. The AXN/BCU/401 has an inbuilt HTTP server, which allows for onboard setup and pre-flight display of key parameters.
