High-strength lightweight hangar doors are manufactured to exacting standards that – as with the hangars – will withstand severe demands from wind loads, ship motion, shock loads, and pressures from blast, all at the lightest possible weight.
Indal Technologies employs a customized approach, tailoring the design and configuration of the doors to the specific application and operational requirements of each user. To determine the best door configurations, Indal Technologies examines many factors including available deck space, required hangar-entrance size, and door opening/closing times, as well as strength and aesthetic requirements.
The range of Indal Technologies hangar doors can be found aboard vessels of the world’s leading navies, and are available in horizontally sliding, overhead ‘roller curtain’ and bi-folding panel configurations. Over 400 hangar doors have been shipped to navies and coast guards worldwide.
Indal Technologies is the world’s largest supplier of telescopic shipboard helicopter hangars, as well as the highly specialized doors that these hangars require.
Maximizing space and minimizing top weight aboard naval vessels is a priority, and Indal Technologies' expandable hangars precisely address this challenge. In addition to providing lightweight, space-saving security for aircraft between missions, Indal Technologies' patented telescopic hangars can be designed for a low radar cross section (RLS). Unique configurations and rugged aluminum alloy construction provide maximum protection, enabling these hangars to withstand severe shock waves and blast overpressures.
The telescopic helicopter hangar design comprises one or more coaxial sections retracting within a fixed section. The extended length, retracted length, minimum headroom and clear door opening are sized to suit the specified helicopter to be operated on-board the ship, and the overall deck space available for launch and recovery.
Over the past 25 years, Indal Technologies has supplied more than 200 telescopic hangars to navies around the world.
Indal Technologies deck track provides a lightweight, secure foundation for movements of helicopters using either the RAST or ASIST helicopter handling systems. The stainless steel, extruded track requires no maintenance and can reduce installation time by more than 50% over more conventional installations. Weight is minimal at less than 130 pounds per foot and the track is strong enough to withstand ship primary hull stresses, meaning that it can act as a longitudinal beam in design, thereby reducing installed weight still further.
Track can be provided to suit any deck configuration and can be installed at the module-build stage or after hull launch.
